You can do several things to improve your life, and it doesn’t always have to be the typical eat better and exercise shenanigans.
This modern world we live in does not make anything easier, and it’s not something any of us planned.
It’s life as we know it, and dealing with it is difficult.
So how do we live?
How can we get our sanity and even live healthier lives?
There are so many things hindering us from living our best lives, and, well, it’s something we have to deal with.
It doesn’t always have to be depressing and stressful if you take small steps to make things better.

Things You Can Do to Improve Your Life
As a soon to be 40 year old, I think I’m living my best life.
I have four kids (I know, that’s a lot), a job that I absolutely enjoy, and I can enjoy the fruits of my labor whenever and wherever I want.
Not many can say the same, and that’s because life and this world have gotten a hold of them.
It’s time you return to your better days and improve your life.
Here are some things that can help, so use them, and you’ll see that life is a special gift we need to treat.
1. Take a Step Back

I like to call this the step-back method.
When life starts to act up, take a step back and see exactly what is going on.
What’s causing you stress?
Why are you snapping so easily?
Why are you always tired?
These things are caused by something, and if you can’t even notice them, how can you improve your life?
Once you pinpoint what these things are, you can make adjustments and improve your life.
2. Quit Bad Habits
I would say cut back, but that’s the best way for you to land on a treadmill.
If you want to improve your life, you need to quit any bad habits.
I used to smoke, chew tobacco, and drink heavily.
These days, I realized I was young and only did things because I had nothing better to do.
I quit smoking and the use of all tobacco products, which has, of course, made me healthier, but it also helped with my hygiene.
3. Change Your Association
That’s a nice way of telling you to change your friends.
Everyone I know is cool.
I enjoy hanging out with them and don’t think they’re bad people.
However, they do little things that limit the time I spend with them.
Do they have bad habits?
Do they have any values or morals?
Those simple but crucial things help me to analyze and decide how much time I spend with people.
I don’t need to cut them off, but it doesn’t mean I need to be with them every single day.
4. Eat Better
Our diets dictate a lot of the way we feel.
The saying “you are what you eat” can not be more true, as it contributes to our feelings.
After eating a bucket of KFC chicken or other unhealthy foods, you feel bloated and usually ask yourself why you did that.
When you eat something like a salad, not so much.
I’m not saying you should eat salads for BLD (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), but eat foods that aren’t so high in fat and unhealthy.
Trade that candy bar for a fruit.
Trade that soda for water.
Do that, and you will see a huge improvement in your life.
5. Move Around More

I don’t mean when you’re sleeping, and I don’t mean straight-up exercising.
Do little things here and there.
Park further away from the store.
Wash your car more.
Little things you don’t deem exercise are much more than most think.
Do this, and you will improve your living conditions and life.
6. Practice Better Hygiene
I can not stress enough how important hygiene is.
Period.
Better hygiene is a great place to start if you want to improve your life.
Brush your teeth better and LONGER.
I would say brush your teeth more, but I’m sure we all stick a toothbrush in our mouths daily, even if it’s only for 30 seconds.
Gag.
Don’t forget the daily showers, and shave your face if you’re not trying to grow a beard.
7. Smile More
I’m not saying keep a smile on your face and be fake.
I’m saying think about the better things in life and smile about it.
If you’re always trying to walk around like some tough guy, remember that it will not help you become a better man.
Cut it out and be the nice little sweetheart that you really are.
Tough guy.
8. Be Grateful
These days gratitude isn’t easy to find.
Everyone and their mothers are so busy looking out for themselves that they forget the more important things.
Instead of being grateful, they’re too busy trying to complain about nothing.
Think about how you’re acting and understand that although you think you’re being grateful, you’re probably just a whiner.
9. Think of Others
Along with being grateful, there’s one important thing to consider if you want to improve your life.
This involves thinking of someone other than the person you admire in the mirror.
Yourself.
I’m not saying you need to go out there and serve food at some homeless shelters, but think of others as you live your life.
Think of others in your household before you scarf down that last hot pocket.
Think of others before you go complaining about how much you don’t have.
10. Consider a Job Change

Jobs are necessary, and there’s no way around it.
A J-O-B is necessary if you want to survive and get the nicer things in life.
However, with well over 50% of Americans hating their jobs, it only makes you wonder which side of the statistic you’re on.
Regardless, think of how your job contributes to your life.
Are you stressed out?
Do you make just enough to get by?
Is it time for a career change?
Those simple questions should help.
11. Break Your Routine
As creatures of habit, it’s hard to see that you’ve been doing the same thing for years.
If you can use the first tip to improve your life, you can see that you are on some routine.
If your routine isn’t helping much, it might be time to take a left.
Your routine can be hurting you, and you might not even know it.
12. Give Your Smartphone a Break
Speaking of habits.
Our smartphones and personal devices have taken over.
Sure, we can’t live without them, but it does not mean we need to be on there every dang second.
I do it, you do it, and so does everyone else.
And, believe it or not, research shows that the average person is on their smartphone for 3 hours and 15 minutes a day, with 1 out of 5 spending upwards of 4.5 hours.
Yikes!
You know what you’re doing, so make that adjustment and improve your life tremendously.
13. Spend Quality Time With Your Family
In case you didn’t know this, we, as humans, are busy.
Busy working, trying to survive, and doing a million other things.
I’m guilty of it and see my extended family a lot less these days.
I will make it a point to visit my mom more, as well as others I hardly see, as I know it is critical to improving your life.
14. Spend More Time Outdoors
Have you taken the time to see what is right outside your backyard?
Whether it be greenery or some building, I know there’s some beauty you can extract from it.
Take a step back and enjoy what God has created for us.
We tend to get busy but remember you have enough time to stop and smell the roses.
True story.
15. Take a Staycation

Staycations are amazing.
Not everyone has the time or money to take a full-on vacation, but it doesn’t mean you can’t take a break from life.
Most of you have things to do in your area, but your busy lives have blurred your vision.
If you can’t take a vacation, I’m sure there’s an activity or hotel nearby that can give you your relaxation.
16. Take a Vacation
Now, if you can do more than staycay, go for it.
Vacations are a great way to disconnect from the world and, of course, improve your life.
Go somewhere different.
Get out of your comfort zone and explore the world.
If you don’t like the outdoors, try it this time.
Just remember that your spending is a big way of stress, so think about how you will fund this vacation before setting sail.
17. Get Out of Your Comfort Zone
Since I just mentioned it, I might as well continue on the topic.
We are all at our best when we are comfortable.
However, in life, it’s not always the best thing.
Being in our comfort zones keeps us away from things that we might actually enjoy.
Get out of your comfort zone and try something different for a change.
18. Pick Up a New Hobby
We all work, and sometimes, finding the extra time to do other things becomes quite the task.
If you want to improve your life today, you might want to find a hobby that can help.
I picked up golf during the pandemic and even did some remote-controlled car things, but there are many benefits that these little hobbies provide.
It took me away from the business that comes with everyday life.
Get a hobby and improve your life now.
19. Improve/Fix Your Credit
These days, everyone is living on credit.
You can see that with the $967 billion debt accumulated from the fourth quarter of last year.
And it’s only getting worse.
Along with all that debt comes lots of unwanted stress.
If you want to win at life and improve on it, you will need to make it a point not to be a part of that statistic.
20. Visit Someone

I’m sure not all of us have our parents around, but if you do, go and visit them.
Pay a visit to someone you’ve never seen in a long time.
They could use the visit, and you could too.
We need that interaction with others, regardless of what we feel and how busy our lives are.
Take the time out of your busy schedule to visit an old friend, even if you had some falling out.
21. Forgive Others
Forgiveness is beneficial in many ways.
It mends the hurt between two parties but is especially important for your mental health.
Holding grudges for whatever reason is not good for your health and won’t help improve your life.
If you want to live your best life without having nonsense hang over your head, forgive whoever has done something to lose your trust.
Trust me, it will improve your life immediately.
22. Forgive Yourself
Forgiving others is one thing, but you also have to forgive yourself.
Forgive yourself for whatever you’ve done, and forgive yourself for not forgiving.
We all have pride, which we need to focus on less.
We can’t feel sorry for ourselves if we want to improve our lives.
We all make mistakes and must understand that it won’t improve things if you can’t forgive any wrong you’ve done.
If, of course, you are really sorry for what you’ve done.
23. Don’t Live For Others
Speaking of pride, we all need to understand how it works.
Being prideful is not good in any way.
I don’t care what these so-called experts say.
Pride makes you do things that are pleasing and appealing to others rather than living and doing what makes you happy.
Forget what they think of you.
As the good old saying goes…
What others think about you is none of your business
– Someone amazing
Remember that saying the next time you let someone dictate how you eat your pizza.
24. Build Your Confidence
Don’t mistake confidence for cocky.
Most people you see that seem confident also carry the ugliness of cockiness.
Don’t do that.
However, you can be confident in a way that you aren’t going to let others push you around.
Don’t let them tell you what or how to do things.
It’s your life, and with a little confidence, they won’t dare think of telling you you’re doing something the wrong way.
25. Clean Your House

Being a clean man is one thing, but it doesn’t make sense if your house isn’t clean.
If you want to improve your life, your health must be prioritized.
This involves the food and things you do, but it also includes your home and its upkeep.
You don’t need to be a neat freak, but make sure your house is always clean.
It’s great for your physical health but especially important for your mental state.
There’s no better feeling than coming home to a clean house, especially if you have kids that will destroy it in a matter of seconds.
26. Be Humble
“I’m a humble person,” said the lost guy.
Humble people don’t talk that way.
Let other people make their decision, but you need to make it a point to humble yourself.
Remember that we all have problems.
Things might be smooth sailing right now, but anything can happen in the blink of an eye.
Remember that we all go through many crazy things in life, so be humble, and you will improve your life in no time.
27. Declutter
Being clean is a must, but there’s a lot that decluttering can do.
Most people I know like to hoard.
They save anything and everything they think they will use later on down the road.
Don’t be that guy.
Keep things simple and get rid of junk, and you will see how you can improve your life in as little as seven days.
28. Change What You Watch
The stuff we watch these days are beyond ridiculous.
Be it TV or what we see on our devices, the stuff out there is insane.
The stuff they show and say are not acceptable in my book.
And, if you want to improve your life, it isn’t going to happen by watching stupid things.
Like your association, your entertainment will need an overhaul if you want to improve your life.
29. Change Your Hair Style
For you baldies, I’m sorry.
For those of you who have some hair to work with, changing your do is a way to change things up and improve your life.
If you’ve had the same hairstyle for the last 90 years, why not change it up?
I know it’s not the easiest change, but if it means improving your life, I think it’s well worth a shot.
You can always return to what you’re used to, so don’t be afraid of change.
30. Get a Pet

We got a pair of cats during the pandemic, and although I’m not the happiest man, at least my kids enjoy them.
I think.
I’m not a cat lover in any way, shape, or form, and I wouldn’t mind if someone adopted ours.
It sounds contradictory, but it can help improve some people’s lives.
It didn’t dent mine, but it did leave me with another responsibility.
As if four kids weren’t enough.
31. Think For Yourself
If you’re going to agree with everything that everyone else says, you’re shortchanging yourself.
Remember that we are all human; if you let others shape your life, you won’t improve.
Think about what is being said, come up with the best reason why it makes sense, and decide if it’s advice you should take.
Much of what you hear is not in your best interest.
32. Change Your Sleep Schedule
You might want to fix that if you sleep late (for no reason).
Now, if you can do that and still wake up early, then good for you.
But, if you want to improve your life, know that it doesn’t help you if you sleep for 10 hours a day because you want to spend the other half playing video games.
Waking up early in the morning does wonders for your life and will help you be more functional.
33. Be Content
Don’t you want that latest iPhone?
I do, but it doesn’t mean I will get it.
I have a perfectly used iPhone, whatever this is,d and I don’t feel like making Apple any more money.
At least, that’s how I think now.
Go to the old me, and I would purchase all the newest gear to show off.
Don’t do that.
34. Drink More Water
Water is a necessity, and it’s something we need to consume more.
And this comes from someone who loves to drink that sweet stuff.
However, I know I need to drink more water.
It’s good for your health, and it flushes you out.
All that bad stuff we put in our bodies needs to come out, and there’s no better way to do it than with some good old H2O.
35. Understand Your Role

I’m against worshipping humans, even if some think they are something special.
We are all equal, and not a single human is better than another, regardless of what the world makes you think.
Forget about those movie stars and famous people.
They are cool and all, but they do not need praise and glory.
They are only human, and you are just as important as they are.
If you think you’re as special or better than others, now would be a great time to make the change.
We are all equal.
Conclusion – Improve Your Life
If you want to improve your life, you need to make changes.
If you’re not willing to make any, don’t expect anything to get better.
Remember that no one is perfect, and we all make mistakes, but we all have the opportunity to improve and grow.
Life is truly a gift, and we must treat it as such.
If you can stop to think about how much you have, I can promise you that you will see that there are a million things you can be thankful for.
Now go out there and improve your life and be the best person you know you can be.
